Jan Blake’s Bottle Lamp Tales, part of Arts Court’s Signature Series 2025, turned the Blackbox Studio into a warm and intimate space filled with imagination and connection. From the moment she began, Jan drew the audience in, making everyone feel like part of the story. Her tales blended whimsy with gentle reflections on everyday life, transforming simple moments into something meaningful and memorable.
The closeness of the Blackbox Studio heightened every detail, from the warmth in her voice to the shared laughter and quiet pauses of the audience. It felt less like a performance and more like a collective experience of listening, reflecting, and feeling together. Long after the final story ended, Bottle Lamp Tales continued to glow, reminding us that live storytelling has the power to spark wonder, deepen connection, and carry a touch of magic into our everyday lives.

Nestled along the gentle curve of Mooney’s Bay, the day unfolds with the soft chatter of children and the honks and quacks of geese and ducks gliding across the calm water. Families drift along in small boats, laughter echoing against the shoreline, while the sun warms the gentle ripples, inviting everyone to slow down and simply breathe. Little feet paddle in the shallows, curiosity runs wild, and the playful energy of the bay feels contagious, as birds weave through the scene, adding life and movement to every moment.
As you wander the edges of the water or settle under a tree, there is a rhythm here that balances excitement with relaxation.
